The Enemy Is Not Your Partner – It’s the Distress Cycle - EFT is the approach I utilize with my couples in session. Being able to understand your distress cycle with your partner is the most important part of moving through it differently. This image from the article is a great visual for what happens when conflict occurs within your partnership.
Feelings Wheel - In terms of communicating, I like to encourage people to use "I feel ___ about/because ____ . I need _______ (positive need)." This helps slow down how we express ourselves, so we can better “catch” and validate our partner’s feelings.
